An effective and natural cough syrup.
Why should you use a natural cough syrup?
When you are sick with a cold or flu, your immune system responds by increasing its lymphocyte production to help fight the virus and make antibodies. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell, and they use a lot of energy. All that seek & destroy, repair & renew, can leave you feeling wiped out. But hey, it’s a big job! So let’s talk about how you can feel better faster. Your cells & organs can’t tap out or take a few days off, so the best way you can help is make sure they focus on the basics and nothing else. If these organs are overburdened, waste and toxins can accumulate, which may impair the immune response and slow down recovery from infections.
Why use honey as the base ingredient?
History & science concur… Honey can be an effective natural cough syrup, especially in children. Research supports its use as a natural remedy for certain types of coughs, particularly when used at night to improve sleep quality and reduce cough frequency. Honey has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which may help soothe irritated mucous membranes in the throat. Its high viscosity provides a protective barrier. A study published in Pediatrics compared the effectiveness of honey, dextromethorphan (a common ingredient in cough syrups), and no treatment in children with upper respiratory infections. The researchers found that honey was more effective in reducing both the severity and frequency of nighttime coughs than dextromethorphan and no treatment.

What makes the Bee Well Oxymel special?
That’s easy - The carefully selected herbs that are infused into a base of Jarrah Honey & Organic ACV!
Elderberry syrup made with ACV (apple cider vinegar) is added for enhanced potency. For 6 weeks the herbs bathe in the Oxymel with Elderberry syrup, infusing their known properties into the liquid. ACV is naturally antimicrobial, and anecdotal evidence suggests it acts as an expectorant. This combined with the honey is the perfect solution to draw out the medicinal properties of the herbs. Elderberry extract is shown to be effective in mitigating the duration and severity of flu symptoms in several strains of influenza viruses. Pelagonium does much of the same, but acts on the lungs and is effective against acute bronchitis, rhinosinusitis, and COPD flares.
Next is the herb that ignited my love for herbs - Hyssop. A study out of Iran mentions Hyssops ability to slow the replication of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Hyssop is able to significantly reduce inflammatory cytokine (inflammation promoters) production, making it a promising addition to any antiviral arsenal. Maybe it’s just the geek in me, but I find that really exciting, and it’s so validating to have science back up what wise women & men have known for centuries.
The other herbs are all important players too, with soothing, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antiseptic, expectorant, anti-spasmodic, calmative, & vulnerary properties. Every single herb in the Bee Well Oxymel has scientific data validating its presence.
Either used prophylactically or at the onset of illness, it’s just one of those staple items every home should have in their fridge. I’ve recently had the flu, and in my experience, it definitely makes an instant difference to a sore throat and is an amazing natural cough syrup.
